Not quite a Cheetah

was out on the common

just got back from a run and I was stretching

whilst in the downward-dog position, enjoying the

unorthodox view of this pleasant part of Plumstead

from between my legs, I see this upside-down Bull Terrier

bursting across the green, to obediently fetch a tennis ball and

return it to a stern voiced lady, wearing a pristine pair of pink Hirachies

She then threw the ball further and the dog ran again

I abandoned my stretching just to take this moment in and

stood there for a few minutes, watching it run back and forth

The way that dog moved was mesmerizing

so low to the ground, fast, powerful, precise and a little bit scary

It reminded me of watching News Round when I was a nipper as

bizarre looking motors attempted to break the

world land-speed record in a desert, clouds of dust

in their wake, camera picture flickering as if

the lens was burning from the heat

I’m as much into cars as I am into dogs but that

Bull Terrier display was a Grand-Prix worthy of my attention

maybe as close as I’ll ever get, to stretching on the

Serengeti, watching Cheetahs make

magic with their legs
