Morden Sunrise

Coming down the hill it rises from behind the

many-storeyed concrete curves of Merton’s Civic

Centre, like a massive satsuma slowly slipping into

the morning pool and painting the ripples yellow,

orange and red. To the immediate left, the Mostyn

Park sparkles, London’s towers in the distance like

candles on a cake; take a breath and blow.
