Dallas Stone

VERSE 1 - (This verse was written whilst in Dallas, on my honeymoon, isloting becuase I’d caught Covid)

On the chair sink in, let my arse sink in

Let the world sink in breathe deep

This is how it is, and this is how it was

And this how it is when you try and play God

All I can do now is sit here and watch

Watching the clock, face made of rock

Eye-socket lining like a solid cave wall

Could cave-in and make cave paintings of all

Out of my hands like a dropped football

Old fool took a walk then took a fall

Foolguy took centre-stage, a mistake

Like a smudge on a page or a roll that he didn’t know to play

Not focused on today so he stalled

Waiting for my cool, my cool is not know and that’s cool

Keep my cool, sticking to the rules

It’s a long game, like we’re playing long-ball

VERSE 2 - (This verse was written about six months after the first. I was isolating again, after catching Covid again, this time stuck in Maidstone)

On my bed sink in let my back sink in

Let my head sink in breathe deep

This is how it is, and this is how it was

And this is what you got when you try and play God?

All I can do now is try sleep it off

Scowl through the blower, deciding what to watch

Stuck at the bottom like rice in a pot

Stuck in one spot can’t focus on a thing

Just relax little-man try and sleep

The world don’t wait loose weight while I eat

Eating everything leaving crumbs on the sheet

Playing drums with my feet make a beat for defeat

This boredom got me moving to the floor

Wonna feeling something solid as it’s lacking in my thoughts

Sweating in my draws, longing for the door

De-ja-vue got me sharpening my sword, encore
